Anita’s is talked about, in hushed reverent tones, half whispers, by taco aficionados in the area surrounding Greenville. This is for good reason. Sometime within the past 6 months, there was a contest in Greenville and Anita’s won best tacos for their steak and cactus tacos.
Me being me, I had to investigate. I tried the steak and cactus (which seemed really strange and foreign to me). They were amazing. From the truck, they are still amazing. The steak is tender and seasoned perfectly and the cactus tastes good and has a nice texture. I only use salsa verde and theirs is delicious. They pile the steak and cactus, along with cilantro and onions into the shells. They are reasonably priced at $2.50 a taco. The fully loaded quesadilla looked amazing, but Alisa was greedy and wouldn’t share any with me. So I can only imagine how tasty it must have been.
Do yourself a favor and find the food truck or go to the restaurant. Trust me, I have a taco tattooed on my body. (I realize that could show my poor judgement, but also shows how committed I am to tacos. Think about the commitment to tacos part.)
